  • Iowa update from Mike Knight, Sales Agronomist: Iowa has not planted much since last week, it has been too wet. On May 16th, the planters started again. If the weather holds they could finish corn planting by the end of this week.
  • Michigan update from Terry Schulz, Account Manager: Northern Michigan is getting going, they haven’t received as much rain as the southern half of Michigan. Much of southern and western Michigan is at a standstill as of today due to significant rain received between last Friday and this Tuesday. In short, Michigan is all over the board in terms of planting progress. Should be a busy weekend though!
  • Minnesota update from Jeffrey Sorenson, Sales Agronomist: Progress has been very slow to non-existent in southern and especially southeastern Minnesota. Much of the rest of the state is in the process of finishing corn and switching right over to beans. I will continue to stress making sure the field is fit with sun and temps in the 80s. Tillage in wet spots will turn into concrete when they dry off and then nothing will grow through that!
  • Nebraska update from Dave Olson, Sales Agronomist: Corn and soybean planting is near complete in southern Nebraska. Northern Nebraska hasn’t changed much in the last week due to rain and extended cloud cover. Corn planting is 80% complete while soybean acres remain at approximately 60% planted. The delayed spot would be west central Nebraska near Broken Bow, estimates are 50% completion on both crops in that area. The low-lying fields along the southern corridor of South Dakota Hwy 37 have only about 10% of the crop in; while some upland areas and fields being planted no-till have up to 30% complete.
  • North Dakota update from Mike Tofsrud, Sales Agronomist: In North Dakota a lot of planting progress has been made in the last week. I talked with some growers in the southeast part of the state and most are wrapping up corn planting and rolling right into soybeans. One big issue many are facing in the state is a shortage of nitrogen fertilizer, both urea and anhydrous ammonia. Many parts of the state, especially northern and western areas, could use a good rain. All in all, lots of good planting progress has been made in the last week.
  • South Dakota update from Sean McGraw, Sales Agronomist: After a rainy week last week, fields have dried and planting is going full force across the state. The southern, western, and northern areas of the state have around half of the corn in and a good start on beans. The east central portion has finally been able to get into the fields and are putting a lot of corn in the ground. Rain is expected for the weekend, it will be welcomed by some and not so much by others.
  • Wisconsin update from Jacob Andrle, Sales Agronomist: Planters are rolling in all parts of the state. Most growers will be finishing on corn by the weekend and many have a good start on soybeans. The southern part of the state has been on the wetter side and the north and western parts of the state are dry.
